Herbs and Hurricanes: Book Release and Talk w/ Rebecca Gilbert

Date and Time: 5/11/2022, 04:30 pm - 05:30 pm
Event Type:In-PersonIn-Person Location: West Tisbury LibraryHosted By: Rebecca Gilbert of Native Earth Teaching Farm

Rebecca Gilbert of Native Earth Teaching Farm will be discussing ways that our friends, the weeds, can help us deal with climate change and climate catastrophes, such as hurricanes. As our elders, plants have been adapting to evolutionary change for much longer than we animals have, and they can give us good advice, as well as food and first aid.

She is also releasing her book Weedy Wisdom: for the Curious Forager.

At Native Earth Teaching Farm we encourage exploration of our connections with the natural world in as many ways as we can think of. These include community gardening, goat yoga, farm school, and barnyard arts. When you visit, you might find dye pots simmering, eggs being collected, or baby goats on leashes. Activities are flexible, and this year we will be doing lots of weed walks along with indigo growing and drumming and dancing.
